Dancing the Odori

A few weeks ago Stella and I danced the Odori at the 2010 Obon Festival in Japantown. We wore our kimonos and had a blast. The Taiko drummers played along with the live band and there were lights and lanterns strung over the street. It was fantastic!

We danced with the Rast girls. Stella is crazy about them.

Their mom, Carol, tied my obi for me. Without her I would have been lost! The Rast family owns Roy’s Station and Carol is down at Roy’s daily. She dotes on Stella and lets her water the plants.

Stella was soooo excited to dance. Here she is ready to go, wearing her kachi kachi’s around her neck.

O Henrietta

I finally finished making Henrietta Turtle and Stella loves her. Though I think Henrietta ate too many goldfish because her polka dot belly is bursting at the seams. She is a pot belly turtle.

Pantaloons

Ha, Stella didn’t like these pants either. I sure had a lot of fun making them though. Yes I know this is payback, mom :-)
